Flout Formula For Excel PivotTables

Formulas are the backbone of many an Excel spreadsheet and the programme offers various ways to compare statistics. In fact, the software is so diverse that some of its users don't know where to start and either stick to simple summaries, or highlighting various information and explaining themselves the impact of the data, rather than show it via the programme. It seems a shame to leave figures stuck in cells, especially when Excel could help you transform spreadsheets into informative reports that illustrate what you are trying to express.

When A Number's More Than A Number, Use Excel

Workers who are adept at seeing relationships in statistics may be the ones who like to sit down with a mixture of figures to organise them into a coherent report. Others could prefer to steer clear of making calculations fearing they will make errors and miss important trends. Whether you fall into either of these categories or not, Microsoft Excel could help you make the most of number crunching - if you're a fan of statistics - as well as making calculations less painful, if you're not.

The price of groceries is increasing dramatically. No wonder that we try and save money, but still find it a stretch at the end of the month. Luckily for the average household, Excel is a simple tool that can help us increase our understanding of where the money is going each month. Excel: The Key To Cutting Waste From Your Company

I'm going to make an assumption here. A wild guess. A stab in the dark. My assumption is that you're not especially pleased when your business wastes money. It's okay, you don't have to applaud, I know, it's a pretty impressive supposition... well, fair enough, it wasn't that impressive at all. I'll hold up my hands and admit that guessing you don't like to see money wasted is akin to saying that the sky is blue or the grass is green; of course it's true, who wouldn't think so?

Create A Simple Right Or Wrong Quiz In Excel

In an early episode of The Simpsons, our favourite nuclear family, accompanied by Patty and Selma, are watching a television quiz show while devouring TV dinners. A contestant on the show is asked to name the third colour of the Italian flag after red and white. Amid many shouted guesses, Homer offers red, then white then black and finally green. When green is revealed as the correct answer, a delighted Homer gives himself a round of applause with a cry of "I was right". How nice it would be that we could submit four answers to each question on Who Wants to be a Millionaire?

Putting Excel's REPT Function To Good Use

One aspect of computers that has made our daily lives a lot easier is the ability to repeat processes. Data entry clerks thank their stars for the AutoComplete function, which saves them having to type the same towns and cities repeatedly when entering address information, and the ever-reliable Copy and Paste can reproduce anything, from swathes of text to detailed images, at the click of a mouse.

Excel Is Not Just For Spreadsheets

If you have Microsoft Office at home, it's fairly likely that you'll be using Word a lot more than you use Excel (unless you do a lot of your work from home, but that's a different story). The majority of us write letters, create pamphlets and do basic desktop publishing at home, so we automatically turn to Word.
