PowerPoint Proves It Really Does Take All Types

Even if we are not aware of it, we are all influenced by type fonts throughout our day: from the newspaper we read every morning, to directions at the train station, to information about road works; even the typeface on the signage in our offices has been carefully selected so that it communicates with just the right amount of emotion. And when anyone tries to tinker with our type, it really upsets us. One well known Scandinavian furniture store found this to their astonishment last year when they rebranded their logo. By replacing its old faithful Futura logo typeface with the more modern Verdana, the company found itself embroiled in a "font war". Customers and designers alike complained en mass, and the protest soon appeared in Wikipedia under the banner "Verdanagate".
