Understanding The Paste Options In Microsoft Excel 2010

A simple copy and paste can be done in a couple of ways from external programmes to Excel. First you can highlight text or an image and right click the mouse. There will be an option to copy the item to your clipboard. You can then right click and choose paste once in Excel. There is also the option of shortcut keys such as Ctrl+C to copy and then Ctrl+V to paste. This is relatively simple and often enough for most pasting requirements. There are however several further options contained in the Paste Special menu. What are these options for and when should they be used?
